Privacy Statement
The Allen Public Library is committed to the protection of all Library patrons' rights to privacy in the use of Library resources. The Library adheres to the American Library Association's Code of Ethics, which upholds each library user's right to privacy and confidentiality with respect to information sought and received as well as resources consulted, borrowed, acquired, or transmitted.
Patron information is disclosed to the patron only. Parents or legal guardians of children under age 18 who have accepted responsibility for the account may have access to information on their child's library card.
Borrower registrations, inter-library loan requests, Civic Auditorium applications, and other transactional records are kept only as long as is administratively valuable and follow the state and local records retention and control schedules.
Library records will only be disclosed under court order, subpoena, or warrant as outlined in the state statute, Texas Government Code, Section 552.124, and the surveillance provisions included in The USA Patriot Act (Public Law 107.56).
