Crime Investigations
Allen Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division is comprised of Investigators and support personnel who strive to bring resolution to all residents within our community who have been victimized. When an offense is committed and solvable factors for a criminal case exist, the case is assigned to an Investigator who is specially trained to conduct an investigation.
How the criminal investigative process works
Throughout the course of the investigative process, the Investigator must first establish that a crime was committed prior to identifying the suspect(s), recover evidence and/or property, analyze information and evidence, conduct interviews and interrogations, author and execute search warrants, make arrests, refer cases to the grand jury, file cases with the District Attorney’s Office, and assist in the prosecution of a person who is charged with a crime.
All criminal allegations referred to the Criminal Investigations Division are investigated to the fullest extent possible. Various factors will determine the length of time it takes to complete a thorough criminal investigation and to determine if a case can be successfully solved. Please be patient as laboratory results, witness identification, suspect identification and other factors can take time to receive.
Should you have any questions regarding the status of your case, you can call 214.509.4238.
